The model

Two kinds of fiat

Fiat is Latin for let it be done. In the Latin Bible, the third verse of Genesis reads fiat lux: let there be light.

Fiat money is the other use of the word. It is not backed by gold or any other commodity. It has value because a government says it does.

LUX starts at the other end. Nobody declares it. A citizen gives it when something is real, one person letting another know: I am rooting for you. Every unit traces to something a citizen witnessed.

Light as power

The light is already here

In about an hour, the sunlight reaching Earth carries as much energy as all of us used in 2023. The rain falls free too.

In November 1956, Isaac Asimov published a story called The Last Question. It ends with the first command in Genesis: let there be light.

WA\ aims at a civilization that can live on the light its planet receives. It starts small: one roof that catches its rain, one circle that keeps its own record, one person who tells another the truth.

What the light becomes

Light · LUX
Where a like stood, there is LUX. Tap it when something is real.
Water · Drop
A post that ripples: a moment, an idea or a question, shared with people who care.
Ground · Seed
Growth that compounds. Show up to a circle, care for your health, keep learning.
The citizen
A person who has verified they are human and owns their own ground. The seed.
The cube
Six inner faces, what a life is for, served by six outer faces, what a life runs on. The soil.
Circles and cosmOS
A circle is a real business or community on ground it owns. Thirteen of them, reaching each other without a headquarters, are the cosmOS.
Phone and portal
On the phone, WA\ is where you give LUX and post a Drop. On any computer, WA\WA\ is the portal where you see where every light came from. The two stay in sync.

The motto

Move slow and grow things

In April 2014, Facebook changed its internal motto from move fast and break things to move fast with stable infrastructure. The motto here goes the other way, on purpose.

One thing to do

Give one light today

Tell one person, in your own words, that you are rooting for them. Name what you saw. That is a LUX, and it counts before any app does.
